The members of the Jacksonville Fire Department are committed to provide excellence in our delivery of fire, emergency medical, public education and fire prevention service to our customers. We will achieve this goal through our tireless dedication, training and utilization of modern technology. 

Stroke Care

                 Do you know the signs of stroke? Each year, approximately 780,000 people are effected by a stroke. It is also the 4th leading cause of death in the US.  Even though strokes occur more frequently in people 65 years old and older, they can occur in anyone regardless of age. One of the most important factors in stroke care is time. This is why is it is so important to know the signs of a stroke and to call 911 immediately. 
             The Jacksonville Fire Department works closely with our local hospitals in the treatment of stroke. This includes Advanced Life Support in the field and early notification of the Emergency Room to expedite care after arrival at the hospital. In many cases the effects of a stroke may be reversed with medications if the patient can be treated in a timely manner.  
             Please take a moment a watch the video so that you will recognize the signs of a stroke. And remember to call 911 immediately if you see someone with these signs. 

Refresher Course Offered

The Jacksonville Fire Department will be hosting an EMT Refresher Course January 28-Feb. 1. There is no cost for the course. The course will be held at the Community Center located at 501 Alexandria Rd. in the Fireside Room. A number of speakers will be on hand delivering a variety topics throughout the course.  For more information please call the station.
