Jacksonville Fire Receives SAFER Grant
Sept. 6, 2016 The Jacksonville Fire Department recently received notification that they will be the recipients of a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant. The grant is for $313,125 and will be paid over a two-year performance period. This will be used to hire 3 additional firefighters.
We are very excited about this news and it could not have come at a better time. The fire department is in the process of opening a second station in the southern portion of town and the additional personnel will be used for the needed staffing. The additional staff and the new station will reduce response times and improve the safety of our citizens and our personnel.
We would like to personally thank Congressman Mike Rogers (R-Saks) for his continued support of the Jacksonville Fire Department. Thanks to the Department of Homeland Security Grant Programs along with Congressman Rogers’s support, we have been able to secure over $1,000,000 in staffing and equipment grants over the past 8 years.
